Beautiful Video (1)

I love the music, and the costuming in this video. It's amazing and lovely. So here you go take a look, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

their Myspace page seems to still be alive (which is interesting given the fact that most people moved to Facebook) http://www.myspace.com/thisisfirstaidkit Which is what came up before their regular website did. Their everyday website is http://thisisfirstaidkit.com/ . It is very nice to see that they are very active on communication websites.

They even have a listing for their tours coming up ^_^ I am impressed.

Mini New Years Media Rant

Media, media, media. It's everywhere these days. We can't really escape it. The billboards, the commercials, heck, there's even pop ups on those fancy telephones, trying to get you to buy things. People walk around WILLINGLY giving companies free advertising as well, and most of them don't even realize what they're doing.

Why? Well, because when you go into most of the stores these days what you're going to find are things like this. ( and NO I am not advising purchase of these items, I am simply using them as examples of the ones that you find)

Don't see anything wrong with them right? That's because it's so common, we don't think about it. Emblazoned across both shirts is the name of the store that sells the item.

Now I don't know about you, but I bet if Walmart or Kmart started doing that you would see a huge decrease in their clothing sales. Yet here, in these cases teenagers and even some adults still flock to purchase at these stores, somehow believing it marks a status.

It doesn't really. All it does is clearly show other people where your clothing is from. (True some people do pick up their versions of these items from thrift stores or as gifts, but That doesn't bother me). It's the people who think they're all that and a bushel of tomatoes I can't wrap my head around.

Band T's don't bother me, travel T's don't bother me. Heck, even cartoon and television character T's don't bother me. At least they tell you something about what the person wearing them. These other shirts, turn people more or less into copies, and it can be hard to guess what they're actually like underneath it all.

What am I hoping for in the new year? Well, I'm hoping to convince my other half to become more unique and learn to express himself. And by expressing my annoyance with items such as the two shown above, maybe I'll manage to get that to happen.

I love unique people. I love people that enjoy creating their own style, sure we can use items that are massed produced, but it is the sum of all parts that expresses what we want to say.

Think about the sum of your parts. Are you unique, or the same as other people? Unique people may have it hard at first, but I have come to find that the ones who are unique are far more innovative than the ones who try to be the same.

Not Quite The Classic

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a movie that a lot of us have watched. We have mostly enjoyed it as well. So it was a surprise to me when my parents came over with a sequel. I'd never even heard of. The original was from 1989, and the sequel was made in 2003 for TV. So of course there is a lot of leeway.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2

Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure
83 minutes
Warner Brothers

There's a lot of things that could be said about this movie. That it'll become a holiday staple is not one of them. Why? well for one thing Chevy Chase is not in it. A fact that my Mother was quite upset about. Honestly though it was amusing to see more of Cousin Eddie. (He's the kind of character you can't help but love in his absurdity)

The movie itself, has an absurd story line. And there isn't much of a plot in honesty. The only thing that really flows along in the story is Eddie's job hunting (or lack of job). They mention a few things that you would remember from other Lampoon's movies, The Dirt Farm and RV for instance. I think they do that in order to try and play to fans of the other movies.

As far as costuming goes, and believability there isn't much. When I watch movies I like to have costumes to look at that are interesting. The ones in here seem stereotypical, and they stay too clean in some circumstances, thus creating disbelief. There are some bright moments, but meh.

Anyway, the movie is ok, worth watching if you're bored. Not worth really celebrating it, but it's what I watched so, happy holidays. Off I go! See ya soon!
